One of the most common causes of elements refusing to light or heat up is because of a faulty spark module. The spark module is responsible for providing power to each element or burner spark electrode.
If the burner has a low or weak spark, it is likely that you are dealing with a fault spark module. The spark module will need to be replaced if this is the case.
Spark Ignition Switch
The spark ignition switch is responsible for sending voltage to the spark module. This creates the spark. If the ignition switch is broken, no voltage will be sent to the spark module, and the element will not be lit. If you see absolutely no sparking when attempting to turn on the element, then the spark ignition switch may be malfunctioning.
It’s important to know that each element has its own unique spark ignition switch. If other elements are working, you can isolate the problem to the spark ignition switch on the element in question. You will need to replace this faulty part.
The spark electrode is there to send a spark to ignite the gas portion of the element, which lights the burner. A broken spark electrode will produce a very weak spark, or none at all.
